Interview Strategies That Help People Stand Out
We have aggressive growth plans for Signature, Inc., which means we’ve been evaluating potential additions to our team. There are a few things candidates do that always leave a strong impression on our hiring managers. Here are the things we’ve noticed that help jobseekers stand out from the crowd:
- Asking About Our Culture: We want to know that a potential hire has done some research into the Signature, Inc. work atmosphere. Not only does it show that a person wants to fit in, it also displays a genuine interest in making a positive impact as quickly as possible.
- Telling a Memorable Story: Putting things in narrative form is always an effective device for being remembered. This is especially true for job candidates who want to separate themselves from the pack. We enjoy hearing interviewees tell us about their unique talents in the form of compelling stories. It doesn’t have to be overly impressive; all we really want is to hear lots of details that relate to the candidate’s competence.
- Showing Self-Awareness: This is typically seen in the way a candidate answers a question about his or her weaknesses. We look for people who are realistic about where they need to make improvements and how they can go about doing so.
